kill that weed
/Banana scramble morning with a new twist!
Chia Stuffed Banana Scramble
- 1T chia seeds
- 1/2t cinnamon
- 1/2 banana
- 3T milk of choice, I used hemp
- 3T oats
- Mash banana until “eggy.”
- Mash in all other ingredients and let sit for a few minutes.
- Heat a pan over med/low and grease.
- Plop mixture in pan and cook for about 3-4min then flip mixture over and cook another few minutes.
It doesn’t flip like a pancake, people. It’s quite messy :)
And quite delicious. Eaten on a sprouted whole wheat bagel with mixed berry jam. This hit the spot!
Heck yes I made my vegan graham crackers + covered them with vegan chocolate. YUM.
These are screaming for marshmallows, don’t you think????
Plain janes. Equally delicious, especially pnut butter samich style.
Graham crackers are SO much easier to make then you would imagine. I’ve made them quite a few times and have even turned them into a delicious pie crust.
I also made 3 different batches of ota.bars for the granola bar trade Allie and I planned. I only have 2 Alliebars left, eek!!
Cherry Almond – This was a big seller of mine. I also had a triple berry almond that people seemed to like a lot.
Cinna-fuse – The #1 seller. I think it was such a hit because it is packed with cinnamon. Kids at the farmers market LOVED this bar. It was named after Laura + her husband’s photography business, Fuse Photographic. It’s main components are almonds, walnuts, oats, cinnamon, apricots and apples. Yummers. Laura, I have leftovers ;)
Pnat Banana - This bar was named after my sis-in-law Natalie. This was her FAVorite bar. It is packed with peanuts, pnut butter, oats, bananas, and cinnamon. They’re also kissed with salt. YUM. Making all of these bars, really made me miss my granola days last summer. It was such an ordeal to finally get the business up and running and then I had to close it down about 4 months later, due to our move to Colorado. I thought I would be able to re-start it here, but you have to work out of a commercial kitchen space here which = $$ You have to rent kitchen time and it adds up quick. Who knows what the future holds…I’ll always have the recipe! :) Natalie, I have leftovers!!
A photo of Silk’s new almond milk that I keep raving about! It is very creamy and the best tasting almond milk I’ve had. Maybe they’ll make an unsweetened version at some point?? This is still pretty decent though…7g sugar in a 1c serving. And let’s not forget, soy free! Weeee!
Yes, I’m going to talk about weed killer. I got an email from James, who runs the Denver Urban Homesteading farmer’s market, that I go to each week. He wondered if I wanted to try out this eco-friendly, vinegar based weed killer. Um, yes! This is a non-toxic product and has been tested against the HIGHLY toxic weed killer, Round-Up, and has come out on top!
This starts to kill the weeds within hours, and will completely brown within 24hrs!
Favorite reasons to use this product:
- doesn’t leech chemicals into the ground that eventually travel back into our water
- safe to use around kids, like at schools + homes
- safe to use around pets
Here is a link to the USDA study of 2002.
I am EXtremely excited that James donated a bottle to me, to try out + blog about. I was seriously thrilled. It doesn’t take much to excite me.
Or maybe it’s because we’re being eaten alive by WEEDS!!! We’re at a rental property and it’s not well maintained. I mean, yah I could go out and do the weeding…buuuuut again, it’s a rental ;) AND there are seriously a TON of weeds.
I went on a weed killing mission tonight. It was quite exciting and soon the yard smelled like vinegar! Much like my homemade green cleaning products. Which by the way I LOVE using and have not bought any cleaner in months. Seriously, vinegar is amazing [and cheap!]
We’ll see what these guys look like tomorrow!!!
Die little weeds!!!
I’m always excited to find products that are environmentally friendly and that actually work. We’ll see how this one measures up! The cleaning products I made at home were so so easy and they work better than any cleaner I’ve ever used. The vinegar cuts through grease and all my other kitchen slop. I have actually gotten used to the smell and like it now. I do add in things like lemon juice + orange essential oil to help out as well.
In between all my crazy baking + weed killing I hopped in the pool for a 35min swim. I feel like I worked out all day though and finalllllly sat down at 9:45pm. Yikes.
Another busy day tomorrow too and up early on Saturday to babysit!
Night!!
